Like a banana
"I bought some of this a few years ago and flatness of the back edge was questionable, but I managed to get it to fit. I should have known better to go for the same skirting 2 years on. Warped is not the word for it! I mean it's not warped on the long edge but across the short edge, so much so that it wont lie flat on the wall. My only option was to plane the back edge by around 5mm to stop it from rocking on the wall. Mitre joints don't work well if the timber isn't perfectly flat. I would buy the more expensive MDF stuff if you don't want these problems."

"purchased quite a lot of this and need to be a contorsionist to get this to fit its warped, curved (basically everything but straight) so hence a normal external corner not a hope of matching the angle together!! Hope this reviews ARE LISTENED TO AS WOULD HAPPILY PAY THE EXTRA FOR SKIRTING THAT IS STRAIGHT

Will this be available in 'Straight'?
"Dear B&Q,
I am wondering if you ever plan to produce the Taurus skirting board in 'Straight' or 'Flat' at any point in the near future? I'm currently struggling to work out how my twisted, bent and curled pieces of skirting board can fit together well enough to be able to fix them to a straight wall, with a 45 degree corner. After trying to cut a mitre joint using your equally questionable Mitre Saw I ended up with several pieces of wood that are currently working well as spoons. If you have any tips on how to bend my walls and floor to match your Torus skirting board it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you."

Skirting around the Edges
"Thought about using MDF but went "traditional". Fired it in no problems, timber was nice and straight with no warping, knotted it, primed, undercoated and looks the "dogs", wife well-pleased."

Best way to finish a laminate floor
"I used this skirting to finish off my living room and hall. Sits on top of the laminate so no edging and looks so much smarter. I did have a builder in to do the floor for me but the finish was lovely and the Taurus is a nice high skirting with a simple and attractive edge. Check on a test piece with a stain and then varnish FIRST to see what finish you will get and when you find what colour/finish you like do that on the main skirting. Stains and varnish stains can look different and if you want to match it to the colour of your floor then good idea to do a trial run. I used a dark oak stain on this wood as the medium oak was too light for the floor."
