Worst paint i have ever purchased
"Good points are it dries very quickly and is odourless.
Bad points are after three coats it still doesn't cover and if you catch it before it has hardened off it peels off. I am now having to rub my paintwork down and and start again but with DULUX paint this time. This is now taking me three to four times longer. Also it is very hard to get a good finish.I think this paint should be removed from your shelves or better still get someone to come and show me how to get a decent paint job from this paint as it is a complete waste of money. Over to you B&Q

Good Paint
"I cant believe this paint has so many bad reviews!
I was looking for an odourless quick drying paint that does not yellow.
After having bad results with well known brands I tried The B&Q paint. For good results paint over a white undercoat or straight over existing paint if white just rub down a bit to key the new paint.
Big areas use a gloss roller and brush smaller areas like skirting boards. It dries very quickly so dont
hang about because it dries quick you can do a second coat after a couple of hours and no lasting smell.

worst paint ever" do not buy"
"this has to be the worst paint i ever used in 40 yrs
first i prepared surfaces and they looked great but that was short lived i started using this quick drying white paint and what a mess it has ruined all my hard work the first coat was awfull as it was drying almost before i finished applying as it went on like a vinyll emulsion with no shine
so thought it needed a second coat for a better finish
and it stripped the first coat straight off. it has made a total mess of my doors skirting and dado i will never buy or use this again please b&q take it off the shelves before others waste money and ruin all their hard work

Don't Waste Your Money or time
"I previously happily used B&Q colours white gloss but not this water based one. Horrendous. More like painting with thinned out milk. Instead of 2 coats (under-c then top-c) I had to use 5 coats and it STILL looks appalling. Just do it the proper way- forget one coat, quick dry, water based, non-drip etc etc rubbish just use the stuff the pro's use. B&Q you have to warn people or take it of the shelves immediately- total waste of money and more annoyed about my time!- hours- and still bad finsh- not your usual standard"

rubbish.
"should not be sold, it is absolute rubbish.my daughter bought it for me to do some painting for her, it was a waste of good money, I have been decorating for over 40yrs and is the worst paint I have ever used. It is too runny and does not cover very good, 2 coats down and I had to go and buy something better Dulux. B&Q should take it off the shelves."

Bad product but good service.
"I bought this paint and painted two door frames before I decided to read the reviews. I really wish I had read them first. My door frames are now a mess, the hours of careful preparation were in vain as it [preparation] has to be repeated and a proper can of paint bought to achieve the finish I wanted.
I took the used can of paint back to the B&Q where I bought it and got a full refund without any resistance from the staff.
Shame I couldn't rate this paint 0 stars!!

Avoid this Product
"***Avoid this Product like the Plague...!!!! ***
I bought this paint in error. It was placed in the Gloss Section and right next to the Dulux Gloss.
I picked it up thinking I was buying a true Gloss paint.
Warning... I have just painted 2 Doors and surrounding framework with this paint...it does not handle like a gloss paint, it is thin, leaves brush marks, and dries as you are applying it., making it difficult to work with.
Once dry, I decided to gently scratch the surface with my fingernail...to my horror, it peels off in a thin plastic sheet...!!!!
This is an acrylic paint, and should never be sold as a true gloss paint.
I am now left with a mess... I cannot paint a true gloss over the top of this plastic film now...it will all have to come off... Nightmare...!!
A complete waste of money, time and effort.
THIS IS A PLASTIC BASED PAINT...!!!!!
It is the worst paint I have ever purchased.
If you are looking for a true Gloss Paint, and one which will be durable..........
Then I cannot say this strongly enough.......
AVOID THIS PAINT LIKE THE PLAGUE....!!!!!!!!

Worst purchase ever
"Sanded and cleaned my interior doors which had yellowed from when installed by builders originally. However, the existing paint was hard wearing, traditional solvent-based gloss. This gloss is NOT durable. Once dry, you can literally pick it off with your fingernails, or brush past it and it will peel off. It also looks like acrylic paint you would use in an art-class, does not flow well when brushing it on. Nothing good to say about it..."

Good grief this is terrible
"DO NOT BUY THIS
A complete waste of time and money.
It doesn't cover at all well, is thin in consistency and prone to run. Over a small area of emulsion it refused to cover at all standing in beads.
The only saving grace is that it was so bad that after a metre of skirting and dado rail, and half a door frame, I was convinced not to bother any further. As it is , these areas will need repreparing.
A further concern is that at the time of writing 7 out of ten reviews agree with me. The other three apparently think it is the bast thing they have ever painted the walls of B & Q with ----oops!"

Do Not Use This Product
"this applies poorly, produces a very poor finish after two coats-patchy.
Worst point is that when removing the masking tape protecting my floor the paint started to peel off the skirting board this was after paint had been drying for more than a week.
I now have to remove the mess caused by this paint and will need to repaint-very difficult to remove as it is does not sand well.
Do Not Buy this product, you will need to repaint afterwards with a proper gloss.

Awful product, unusable
"Do not buy this paint. It will leave you with a mess to clean up and having to start your job again.
Yes it's quick drying but the problem is it is too quick drying, we're talking under a minute until its tacky which means the paint never gets time to settle and produce a smooth surface and if you go anywhere near a piece you painted 30 seconds ago with your brush then you end up with a `bobbly` mess. Awful.
On vertical surfaces it sags and runs, I thought maybe I was putting it on too thick but I cannot be, I can see the grey undercoat underneath.
All this was using the recommended undercoat and B and Q fine brushes. If it doesn't work with the recommended brushes and undercoat I dread to think what would happen with others."

painless
"I didn't know gloss could be painless! ok maybe not as resistant and glossy as oil based, but not having the usual cleaning nightmare and doggy fumes is well worth having to add a coat from time to time... not to mention the much lower environmental damage. Very happy I discovered this!!"

Very poor
"Never thought I'd be writing a review of paint but after using this over the weekend I feel compelled to.
The upsides of this being water based are completely overshadowed by the awfully thin consistancy (requiring up to three coats in places) and the fact that the paint dries too quickly. Now quick drying paint might seem like a good thing but as others have noted it dries TOO quickly, I found it getting tacky within 30 seconds of applying and this means it doesnt settle at all, so we found getting a smooth finish was literally impossible using either brush or roller.
Now we are going to have to either start over or put up with stippled and lumpy woodwork. Avoid."

poor performance
"If you want a paint to 'do what it says on the tin' do not but this. Apart from poor coverage due to the extreamly thin consistency, you have to contend with runs, blobs and blotches. A complete waste of time and money."

A great choice
"Purchased this gloss paint to spruce up the wood in our hallway. As gloss goes, this was really easy to apply and cut in well. It goes on thinner than standard gloss so required a couple of coats. Washing out the brush at the end was nice and painless too!"

Top Notch Gloss
"I've used this paint a few times I've used the cotton white and it gives an even finish although in just one case I've had to but on two coats.
the finish like I said is nice and even and very bright.
the 750ml tin I've got has gone a long way to I've painted skirting in the bathroom, hallway, and large bedroom also I've painted a rad and the hatchway to my loft.
so the paint offers alot of bang for your buck! well done B&Q."

Poor paint quality
"Tried the white paint for the 1st time the other day. I bought the quick dry under coat and the gloss white top coat.
1st thing is the undercoat is grey so unless you really really have to save your money and chance painting on the prepared surface of the old paint.
2nd - when they said quick dry they really meant it - it is touch dry in 30 mins, and tacky almost as soon as you put it on the surface.
This means that there is no chance for the paint to flow and form a nice smooth layer. I painted a door in relatively cool temperature and by the time I was half way down the jamb the top had gone off, so much so that you dragged the surface if you tried to blend in the prush strokes.
The door is finished now an looks like it has been scoured with a giant brillo pad. The paint is suppoesed to be touch dry in 2 - 4 hours. I had the door on tressels too and tried applying a really heavy coat to no avail. I am now faced with having to strip the whole door back and start again.
In my opinion this paint is unusable and I would recommend to go to a brand paint or use good old slovent based paint."
