An economic, peat based, all - purpose compost for general use indoors and outdoors. Suitable for sowing seeds, rooting cuttings, transplanting seedlings, potting up containers and baskets and planting out in the garden.

"After reading the other reviews it's obviously a case of inconsistent quality or lack of quality control by B&Q's buyers. Ours was full of bits of wood, fabric and plastic, does this stuff come from landfill sites?!
Would not recommend as you won't know if it's any good until you've transported it all the way home and are in the middle of using it!
Will be using another brand in future."

Value for money compost
"After reading some of the reviews on this product I was a bit dubious of buying it but as I needed a large amount of compost I chanced one bag. Although it had a few bits of rubbish in it the overall consistancy was great so I went back and bought another 4 bags and at this price it was just the thing."

"It's compost does what it says, although the bag could be stronger as splits were appearing by the time we got home. It is a heavy bag though so two people lifting is probably sensible."

"Needed a few bags for a raised bed and at under £6 for 125L these were ideal. I've seen a few reviews about the quality of the compost / debris inside but I bought 6 bags and every single one has been top notch - would definitley recommend / buy again"

"Just bought three bags of this and filled on large pot with some. When I watered it loads of black sludge drained out of the bottom and ruined my freshly jet cleaned patio - I'm furious."

All bags have to be sieved for sowing seeds as there is a proportion of lumps in the mix.
Occasionally some bags include a lot of fibre and lumps of wood."

Worst purchase ever
"This was useless. Two lots of seedlings and plants grown indoors either died or failed to thrive. I have thrown away about 80% of the remaining compost and gave feedback at my local branch in Macclesfield where I was told nobody has had reported a problem with the product. I will certainly not use this product again."

Excellent Value for money
"My garden is in containers or raised beds and I purchase a lot of compost throughout the year.
This is the best value compost I have found, the quality is excellent with the small exception of some larger pieces of bark or twigs.
Picking these out is a very small inconvenience overall and I would and do, recommend this product to any gardener, big or small.
The 125L bags are excellent value for money and
the larger bags can also be used to grow potatoes or line terracotta pots.

my bag was fine
"i found this nice compost, loose so easy to manage,no lumps or anything that shouldnt be there., it smells a bit barky with the odd small bits of bark but is a lot finer than a rubbish bag i got from morrisons..the first bag was fine but the next bag had plastic and stones in..they are refunding me and im going to go back to using this one instead...its the best i can get near me. the only bad point id say is it says it contains a wetting agent....i dont think it has enough tho if any, my pots dry out just as quick as anything else ive used before. could do with an even bigger size..ive used loads this year."

load of rubbish
"Having used about 20 bales of compost each year for the last 6 years this latest mix is literally rubbish.it has bits of plastic in it and large amount of wood and bark.it has to sieved to use for seed planting. it certainly won't in my opinion now won't reach which's standards. Checked 3 bales so it was not a one off. Perhaps it should be renamed Swerve so that all serious gardeners or growers can avoid it. Shame it was the best. I will have to look for an alternative next year."
